Steven ONeill drowned in the River Ouse.
His cause of death was given as misadventure.
He had run away from some undercover police after they approached him in a bar on suspicion of dealing drugs and had gone off along the River Ouse and fallen in.
It was heard that although there had been a number of police officers there that none of them endeavoured to help by throwing in a life buoy.
He was pulled out of the river two hours later dead.
